Rjukan is situated in the heart of Telemark and offers fantastic countryside views with innumerable possibilities for outdoor life, recreation and fun. The Gaustatoppen Mountain is situated in the immediate vicinity with a height of 1600 metres. If you take the Krossobanen cable-way you will reach Europe’s largest mountain plateau; The Hardanger National Park. From here you can toboggan or ski cross-country in winter, while in summer it is a perfect starting point for tours by cycle or on foot. Tinn council Municipality has earlier been voted the country’s best for athletics, this as a consequence of our athletics facilities, their availability and free usage. We have most of the facilities you can imagine; swimming baths, training facilities such as indoor climbing walls, sand volleyball courts - both indoor and outdoor, squash courts, football pitches, all yearly athletics arenas and running tracks with artificial grass, and much more. All these facilities are situated in the immediate vicinity of the school. In the winter, the Gaustablikk alpine facility is well known for its stable snow conditions. We are, in addition, world famous for our climbing opportunities, summer and winter.
